Hey everyone! I’ve decided I’ll be dropping this novel since I want to just focus on earning money and studying. If there’s someone that wants to pick this up, they won’t have to contact me. IBFV Chapter 22.2

Holding you in a corner everyone does not know of.

Unedited

Wen Zhu Zhi stiffened at hearing what he said.

Bai Zhi never cared that much. His heart had always not twisted and turned that much1 and he didn’t hide what he liked or disliked. Before, he had not met him. Now, he had met him with great difficulty. Naturally, he had to tell him.

Wen Zhu Zhi, however, thought otherwise.

He froze on the spot for a few seconds before coming back to his senses.

Before he had the time to organise his words well, Bai Zhi tossed another blow.

“Do you like me now?”

“I don’t like you!”

He hastily replied, the speed was astonishingly quick.

Bai Zhi, however, did not give up, “Why not?”

“Because, because when you like someone, your heart speeds up,” When Zhu Zhi swallowed his saliva.

“But your heart is beating very quickly.”

“That’s me being nervous,” Wen Zhu Zhi retorted. “Moreover, liking someone will make you blush from shyness.”

“Not only are you blushing, your neck is all red.” Bai Zhi ruthlessly exposed him again.

“That’s me feeling hot,” Wen Zhu Zhi would not admit it even if he died2. “Besides, liking someone is——”

“Look at tonight’s stars, they’re so bright,” Bai Zhi suddenly voiced, interrupting him, a brilliant smile on his face. “Let’s look at the stars, anyway……”

His voice gradually became smaller, Wen Zhu Zhi could not hear him clearly. “What?”

Bai Zhi laughed and did not speak.

Wen Zhu Zhi exhaled, wisely ending the subject. He raised his head and looked at the sky.

Bai Zhi was in an area he could not see him and he looked at the side of Wen Zhu Zhi’s bright and handsome face from the side.

If he doesn’t want to say it, forget it.

The little demon very considerately thought.

Anyway, in the future, the two of them would definitely be together, very happily being together.

After a while, the sound of the wind was stagnant. It had become increasingly peaceful all around. The sleepiness got to Bai Zhi’s head and his open eyes had gotten smaller and smaller. He gradually fell asleep.

When the sound of the man’s long and continuous breaths was heard in his bosom, Wen Zhu Zhi lowered his head to see Bai Zhi sleeping soundly with his eyes closed.

His eyes slightly moved as he quietly gazed at the man’s sleeping face.

These days, Bai Zhi has lost some weight from working hard and constantly being on the move. His originally slightly meaty face was now somewhat bony and angular. Wen Zhu Zhi quietly embraced him and suddenly recalled his former appearance.

He had not paid much attention to Shao Luo in the past. And now that he thought back, he was probably just a child that was like carved white jade.3

He didn’t remember much about Shao Luo. How could one blame his former self for not knowing that he and this imperial prince would have this day come?

On a remote, uninhabited planet, embracing one another as much as they like, spending long nights together.

If everything just stopped here4, that would be very good.

Wen Zhu Zhi thought about it and sighed.

The sky was soon bright when Bai Zhi was called by Wen Zhu Zhi. He rubbed his eyes in a daze and heard Wen Zhu Zhi’s voice.

“Do you want to see the sunrise?”

Bai Zhi suddenly sobered.

His soul became excited and he very happily looked all around for a long time. “Can I see it from here?”

Wen Zhu Zhi nodded, “You will in a moment——”

His voice abruptly halted.

Bai Zhi was suddenly alarmed. He also sensed something and slowly turned his head, exchanging looks with We Zhu Zhi.

There’s something coming.

His previous excitedness was replaced with tenseness. Bai Zhi checked his weapons and took a step behind the tree to hide. Wen Zhu Zhi followed after him. The two figures were hidden well.5

The sound of rustling came closer and closer, Bai Zhi held his breath. The people coming gradually exposed their true identities.

Zerg.

As expected.

One after another, the Zerg crawled out of the path. They were densely packed and the people looking felt nervous.

Bai Zhi secretly clenched his teeth. It seems that the ones from yesterday were scouts, but the Zerg were determined to bring them back.

He roughly estimated the amount of Zerg. At the same time, he quietly pulled Wen Zhu Zhi’s hand over, writing a sentence on top of it.

“I’ll distract, you leave.”

After that, he proceeded to turn his head and watch the enemies ahead. However, his hand was suddenly pulled. Wen Zhu Zhi looked at him and wrote strokes6.

Bai Zhi froze for a moment. Before he could think of how to persuade him, Wen Zhu Zhi moved and slowly wrote something on his palm.

“I’ll distract, you leave.”

Bai Zhi knitted his eyebrows. Nevertheless, Wen Zhu Zhi suddenly rushed out. He charged into the army of Zerg.

The Zerg were already closely watching their hideout, just waiting for an opportunity to eliminate the two people. And now that they had seen Wen Zhu Zhi take the initiative and appear, they were pleasantly surprised7 and all rushed over like a tide.

The enemy troops came swarming in and Wen Zhu Zhi was not in the least fearful. He agilely raised his hand and shot, with his right hand, he waved a blade and restrained the Zerg’s movements. With his left hand, he opened fire. In a split second, brains were flowing all over the place.

Emerald green fluid was splattered all over the ground. Several attacking Zerg slowed down a bit and retreated a few steps in cowardice. Wen Zhu Zhi’s body was covered in hostility and he swept a somewhat disgusted glance at the green traces on his clothing. His voice was very cold.

“Only capable of this much, how did you get the courage to be this presumptuous here?”

The words were arrogant and the tone was disdainful, inciting the Zerg to stir up again.

The hands of Bai Zhi gradually formed fists, his eyebrows wrinkling.

The system could not openly appear, and the amount of Zerg exceeded his imagination. He wasn’t certain he could safely lead Wen Zhu Zhi out.

Seeing more and more Zerg rush up, Bai Zhi’s heart was chaotic and he no longer thought so much. He lifted his gun and ran out.

Whatever, it was only a few insects, that’s all. It’s nothing to be afraid of.

After Bai Zhi gave himself some reassurance, he immediately drew out his blade, chopping some Zerg that was about to sneak attack Wen Zhu Zhi.

Blood splashed across, Wen Zhu Zhi turned around and hated iron for not becoming steel.8

“What are you doing here? I told you to leave.”

“I won’t escape,” retorted Bai Zhi as he held his gun, “I’m going to survive with you.”

“You……” Wen Zhu Zhi was speechless. He was angry at Bai Zhi’s disobedience. Fortunately, he couldn’t scold him right now. He could only shift his fury on the Zerg’s heads.

“Be careful, their antennae are poisonous.”

After Wen Zhu Zhi spoke, his hand moved a bit more and his blade moved quicker, making one overwhelmed. Bai Zhi saw him suddenly seem like he’s been injected with chicken blood.9 Although he was somewhat surprised, he didn’t have the chance to ask him about it.

As more and more Zerg approached, Bai Zhi became more and more irritated.

“Uncle, can’t I take on my true form and eat all these insects!”

“Of course not!” The system put a stop to him. “You’ll have indigestion.”

Bai Zhi: “……Don’t care about digestion issues at a time like this when people’s lives are at stake, okay?”

“Okay.” The system spoke again, “But if you take on your true form, how will you explain to Wen Zhu Zhi?”

“I……”

“You’re actually a variation of Zerg that’s mingled in the human world for many years?” the system coldly spoke. “Nephew, you’re not at all wary10, are you?”

Bai Zhi, who was miserably refused, became more and more jittery, “Then what now? How much longer do we have to fight these damn insects?”

Huohuohuo, this is when you need the help of the omnipotent system!”

The system very proudly flew in the sky. After whetting its appetite, it unhurriedly opened its mouth.

“I’ve already issued a distress signal to the imperial family using an anonymous identity. You guys have to hold on for a while then the armed forces will save you guys.”

Bai Zhi had sharply caught a crucial point. “Wait a minute, you can issue signals to the Empire?”

“Yeah.” The system still had not found the loophole and was still happily swaying.

“Then you……” Bai Zhi took in a deep breath, piercing the Zerg in front of him. “We’ve been stranded in this damned place for so many days, why did you not send out a signal?”

The system’s swaying stopped.

“That, uh, this, I……”

“You just watched your nephew and your nephew’s wife survive in the desolate wilderness like that?”

The system knew that it had made a slip of the tongue and immediately hid.

Bai Zhi, who was still full of anger: “……You’re not allowed to leave! You big bastard!”

The system silently turned around and said one sentence: “I’m the big bastard, you’re the little bastard. Oh, yeah.11

After saying that, he continued to play dead.

Bai Zhi was so angry, he couldn’t speak, “……!!”

  1. Basically saying he’s simple-minded and it’s easy to guess what he’s thinking.
  2. 死不承认.
  3. Describing his fair skin and saying it was as smooth as carved/polished jade.
  4. Like, he wants time to freeze.
  5. I don’t think it’s that great of a hiding spot. 😂
  6. Strokes of Chinese characters.
  7. 惊喜若狂 = pleasantly surprised like mad (idiom); capering madly with joy / to express boundless pleasure.
  8. 恨铁不成钢 = lit. to hate iron for not becoming steel / to feel resentful towards sb for failing to meet expectations and impatient to see improvement (idiom). In this case, WZZ wanted BZ to leave, which he didn’t.
  9. They’re just saying he suddenly had a lot of energy/became excited or whatever.
  10. Saying he’s got a lack of maturity and he’s naive and stuff…
  11. Pretty sure 欧耶 is a transliteration. Also, it’s saying it in an arrogant manner.

Zenne: Andddd, the system is playing dead again. 😂

IBFV Chapter 22.1

Holding you in a corner everyone does not know of.

Unedited

The colour of the sky got darker and darker. Wen Zhu Zhi wandered about then felt that it was about time. Thus, he coughed a few times and he pretended that he unintentionally walked up to Bai Zhi, very formally voicing out, “That……”

“What’s wrong?” Bai Zhi tilted his head and looked at him.

Wen Zhu Zhi frowned.

“You were feeling uncomfortable just now.”

“I……”

“It’s very cold here at night.”

“Ah……?”

“So——” Wen Zhu Zhi glanced at him, his voice somewhat faltering, “I’ll just, help you get warmer.”

After saying that, he then sat by his side. His arms stretched out to hug him and he voiced, “Come, I’ll let you pounce on me here.”

Bai Zhi froze for a while, it followed with his eyes widening, and he firmly shook his head, “I can’t, it violates the military regulations.”

“The military regulations have changed,” Wen Zhu Zhi coldly spoke.

“Now, it’s me, as your superior, ordering you to be intimate with me.”

The words fell and the entire place fell silent.

“……Whoa1.” The system was cracking seeds as it watched the play2 on the other side. “The pepper wasn’t wasted, Uncle is very glad.”

Bai Zhi was puzzled and completely ignored the system’s statement, only foolishly looking at Wen Zhu Zhi, “When did the military regulations change?”

“Now.”

“……Okay.” Bai Zhi rubbed his nose and lowered his head to let the jacket draped over him get closer. After finishing, he lifted his head and spoke, “Are you ready?”

“Of course,” Wen Zhu Zhi’s face was serious.

“Then I’ll……” Bai Zhi took a very small deep breath. He brewed up a good mood and straightened his body, suddenly throwing himself forwards.

“Come here!”

Wen Zhu Zhi caught him and the corners of his mouth unconsciously rose.

Bai Zhi buried his head into Wen Zhu Zhi’s bosom, his entire body was warm. A certain easily satisfied demon suddenly felt very happy.

Wen Zhu Zhi saw the man’s foolishly happy appearance and couldn’t help holding him a bit tighter, then he lowered his head and leaned over.

“Are you happy?”

“I’m happy!” Bai Zhi nodded and habitually raised his head to kiss the man. Fortunately, he was stopped by the system in time.

“If you kiss him now, he won’t hold you.”

“Why?”

“He would die to save face,3” the system voiced. “If you go kiss him, he’ll definitely immediately push you away. After that, he’ll put on an act and tell you inspirational words4. All men are like that.”

“Aren’t we also men——”

“You’re a demon, I’m a machine. We’re different5,” the system retorted. “Wen Zhu Zhi’s character is just like that, get used to it.”

Bai Zhi was a little frustrated, “Okay, I won’t kiss him then, I won’t kiss him. I can do other stuff anyway.”

After saying that, he immediately poked Wen Zhu Zhi and spoke clearly, “Wen Zhu Zhi, I like you.”

  1. Said 哇/wa and 哦/o.
  2. Chinese audiences used to snack on seeds or nuts whilst watching in theatres in the past. It’s basically saying that the system is an onlooker.
  3. 死要面子呗 = People who would rather suffer than lose face.
  4. Used as irony here.
  5. The system defo supports KAM. 😂

Zenne: The next part might be on Sunday or Monday if I have time. ^_^

IBFV Chapter 21

The general has still failed in successfully killing the enemy today.

Unedited

The sound of the wind whistled past his ears. In the vast, empty, and uninhabited wilderness, there was only the sound of his moving feet touching the ground.

Bai Zhi gritted his teeth and ran wildly under the system’s guide, finally shaking off the Zerg chasing them. It was time for the scorching sun to be in the sky. He walked for quite a while and then he finally found a water source.

It was a very small lake.

Wen Zhu Zhi was carefully placed beside the tree by him. Bai Zhi rushed to the lakeside and fished up a handful of the lake water and drank it, asking the system with some uncertainty.

“Uncle, can I give this water to Wen Zhu Zhi for him to drink it?”

The system checked for a while and said, “It’s harmless, you can.”

Bai Zhi exhaled at hearing that, “That’s good.”

After saying that, he placed his fingers side by side, cupped a handful of lake water, and went to Wen Zhu Zhi’s side. Just as he was about to feed it to Wen Zhu Zhi, the originally unconscious man suddenly moved and grabbed Bai Zhi’s wrist.

Bai Zhi’s hand shook, the droplets sprinkling all over them. He cried out. Before he could deal with it, a strong force pulled him forwards. Bai Zhi was in a trance and had already thrown himself at Wen Zhu Zhi’s chest.

The atmosphere immediately became quiet.

Bai Zhi’s lips slightly moved. After a moment, he slowly raised his head.

Wen Zhu Zhi had already opened his eyes. He was staring at him motionlessly, his expression was obscure, and he could not make out his mood.

“……Wen Zhu Zhi?”

Bai Zhi was somewhat weirded out and he couldn’t help opening his mouth to call out to him. He called the man’s name, however, it was as if he were wound up1 like a spring and he immediately ended his state of motionlessness, reaching out to push him.

The two people were much more distant.

Wen Zhu Zhi lowered his head. He didn’t look at Bai Zhi’s confused expression, his voice low, “I’m sorry, I’ve offended you.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Bai Zhi lowered his head and slowly stood up.

“Of course, it’s best if you were awake. I originally only planned to feed you water.”

After saying that, he turned around, taking a few steps forward. He patted his clothes and sat down, not uttering any more words.

Bai Zhi was a little sad inside. Although he wasn’t intelligent, he also wasn’t a fool. A demon has sharper intuition compared to humans. The second he was grabbed by Wen Zhu Zhi, Wen Zhu Zhi was on guard against any hostility. He felt it very clearly.

Wen Zhu Zhi did not like him. He was still very guarded against him.

Despite Bai Zhi being a simple-minded2 demon, who had never known what heartbreak was, at this moment, he felt a little aggrieved.

Obviously, he wholeheartedly only wanted that person to be well.

“Nephew, don’t be sad,” the system could not continue watching him. He voiced out, attempting to convince him, “He doesn’t know you, after all, it’s understandable that he’s a little more vigilant.”

“……I know.”

Bai Zhi took a deep breath. Just as he was about to pick himself back up and go find something for Wen Zhu Zhi to eat, he was suddenly tapped on the shoulder by the man.

He turned his head. In front of him were green tree leaves with some bright red fruits on them.

Wen Zhu Zhi held the tree leaves in his hand, feeling a little embarrassed, “Before…… you picked things and I wasn’t willing to finish eating it. This is for you.”

“……Humph,” Bai Zhi was still a little angry and gave a small ‘humph’.

Wen Zhu Zhi glanced at him. He stood for a moment and slowly sat down, handing the fruit over again, but this time, a bit closer.

“Try it. You must be tired from running just now.”

Bai Zhi blinked and turned his butt3, changing directions. He faced Wen Zhu Zhi with his back, “I’m not tired.”

Wen Zhu Zhi lowered his eyes at hearing what he said and also placed his hand, which was raised, down. After a while, he opened his mouth, his voice somewhat apologetic, “Okay, okay, okay, you’re not tired. Your Highness, I’m sorry, I offended you just now.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Bai Zhi replied after a while and shook his head, his voice somewhat small.

“I know you’re a soldier on a battlefield and we’re fleeing. It’s a good thing that you’re sensitive to danger. I already know that.”

Bai Zhi took a deep breath.

Of course, he knew all of that.

But he faintly felt his heart dropping and it didn’t make his mood any better.

Wen Zhu Zhi slightly frowned, not knowing how he should reply.

Naturally, he understood what Bai Zhi had said. But, when he thought of the aggrieved aura that shrouded the man’s crouching body just now, Wen Zhu Zhi still felt a little uncomfortable.

Anyway, he was the person who saved him. Although, although, he had to kill him in the future, before killing him, he should also watch over the enemy’s mood. On the battlefield, he still has to give preferential treatment to captives!

Wen Zhu Zhi suddenly found a reason for himself.

Yeah, that’s right. Before killing him, taking good care of him is also something a soldier should do. As a general, how could he forget this point?

Wen Zhu Zhi took a deep breath and organised his words for a while. At the same time, he secretly looked at Bai Zhi, who had his back turned to him.

The young prince was shrinking into a ball. He had his back turned to him and did not say a word. Although he knew that he feels sad and heartbroken at this moment and that he should go and apologise, Wen Zhu Zhi looked at him and his attention had shifted to something odd.

When he went out on a mission before, he saw a fat, fluffy bird4 on Earth. And after it had fallen out with its owner, it had faced its owner with its butt and shrank into a ball just like this. No matter how much the man poked, it did not respond.

It was panting with rage, but it was a little cute.

Wen Zhu Zhi thought for a while, He could not hold back and he decided to go comfort this young prince well. Whilst he was at it, he would poke him.

He put the fruit in his hand away and moved a few steps forwards to sit in front of Bai Zhi. He earnestly thought of how to make someone feel happy.

He carefully thought for a while. Suddenly, he recalled a collection of jokes he had seen on Earth before.

“Once upon a time, there was a young cat. She refused the wooing of the same kind and wanted to get married to a bear because she wanted to give birth to pandas.5

Bai Zhi lifted his head.

Wen Zhu Zhi contemplated for a moment and opened his mouth, “There was a frog who took advantage of a rabbit when she wasn’t paying attention and he kissed her. The rabbit chased him all the way to the pond and then a toad came out of the water. The rabbit laughed heartily, hahaha, it was allergic to it!”6

When Wen Zhu Zhi had finished saying the second one, he began racking his brains, continuing to recall. Bai Zhi looked at his hard-thinking appearance and his previously negative state of mind had already unknowingly flown somewhere.

This person really is excessive, he actually tried to fool me using these jokes.

Bai Zhi recalled the same jokes he had told Fang Jingmo in the first world and his heart could not help feeling a little sweeter. But he still tried to show an appearance that’s a little angry on the surface.

For the first time, it was very difficult for him to get angry. He couldn’t be coaxed so easily. The little demon quietly nodded, secretly swearing7 in his heart.

He would hold on for at least three seconds. After three seconds, he’ll forgive him.

One, two, three.

Wen Zhu Zhi did not know of the little thoughts in Bai Zhi’s head. He was still trying hard to recall the rest of the stories, but someone had suddenly bumped into him.

He immediately froze.

Bai Zhi tightly held Wen Zhu Zhi like an octopus. He buried his head into his head, his shoulders shaking as he laughed.

“一It’s not funny at all, hahahahahaha……”

Wen Zhu Zhi didn’t react for a while with the sudden intimacy. He had a vague feeling that this prince was sticky like this and that he would dig into people’s embraces at the drop of a hat.

Indeed. He doesn’t know how to be ashamed at all, is not mature at all, and is not proper at all.

Wen Zhu Zhi thought of this and extended his arms on either side. He seized the opportunity and tightly held the young guy in his arms.

He did not have any other ideas, but he hugged Shao Luo whilst he was at it to let him go down the steps8, that’s all.

The harmonious atmosphere was only maintained for a while. Bai Zhi had a silly appearance9 as he suddenly recalled something. He immediately got out of Wen Zhu Zhi’s embrace.

“Sorry. I forgot about the military regulations.”

Wen Zhu Zhi: “?”

Bai Zhi had a serious face, “Maintain a distance, we’re excessively intimate. We’re violating the military regulations as you said.”

Wen Zhu Zhi: “……”

Bai Zhi said that he felt that it was not enough and he quietly moved back a few steps, which satisfied him.

Just now, he wasn’t careful and forgot. That person doesn’t like him standing too close to him, he must always keep this in mind in the future!

Wen Zhu Zhi, who indescribably felt that he seemed to have dug himself a pit: “……”

After so much, the sky was already turning dark. The night breeze slowly blew. Bai Zhi sat and felt somewhat cold.

When he was pulled by the wrist by Wen Zhu Zhi, water had dropped on his body. Now that the wind was blowing, it was particularly cold. Bai Zhi frowned, asking the system in his mind whether there was a place to take shelter nearby. The system searched for a while and gave a negative answer.

Bai Zhi sighed and was about to move to hide under the tree when Wen Zhu Zhi suddenly got up and went over.

Bai Zhi froze. Before his questioning words had come out, a jacket was draped over him. Wen Zhu Zhi leaned over, his voice somewhat unnatural.

“You gave me clothing before, I’ll return that to you.”

Bai Zhi: “Oh.”

Wen Zhu Zhi touched his nose and opened his mouth, “Don’t misunderstand anything.”

“Misunderstand?” Bai Zhi was somewhat baffled. “What will I misunderstand?”

Wen Zhu Zhi stammered for a while, “……You know.”

Bai Zhi: ??? Hold on, I don’t understand?

Wen Zhu Zhi, however, no longer spoke. He stood up and pretended to wander about to the side for a long time. Bai Zhi still wanted to ask something, but the sound of the system’s voice came through in his mind.

“Nephew, Uncle will play a game with you.”

“What game?”

Bai Zhi’s questioning words had just fallen when a small, red bottle was then in his hands. The system intentionally lowered his voice, “Smell this, then Uncle will sing songs for you to listen.”

Bai Zhi squeezed the bright-red bottle and curled his lips, “I don’t want to hear you sing songs.”

Aiya, Uncle wants to sing. For the sake of us two’s uncle-nephew affection10, okay?”

“……Okay.”

Unable to change the system’s mind, Bai Zhi could only helplessly move closer to it and sniff it.

A choking scent instantly entered his nose and Bai Zhi instinctively threw the bottle away at once. He covered his face with one hand and he could not help sneezing several times in a row.

Before he was able to question the system in his mind in time, the sound of footsteps immediately came through. Bai Zhi turned around with a bitter face and saw Wen Zhu Zhi with a nervous face.

“What happened, have you fallen ill? Where do you feel uncomfortable?”

“I’m not……”

“Don’t speak,” Wen Zhu Zhi raised his hand and pressed his forehead, his face became serious, “There’s no way for us to do medical treatment in the current situation. We——”

“No, I’m only somewhat cold,” Bai Zhi interrupted the man’s words, somewhat baffled. “Why are you so nervous?”

“You’re nervous, I’m not nervous at all,” Wen Zhu Zhi opened his mouth and replied.

Bai Zhi blinked with a dumbfounded face. His voice had become small, “Oh.”

  1. Like, yk how wound springs are functioned to compress and store energy? Yeahhhh.
  2. 没心没肺/No heart no lungs = Not using their heads or not scheming. Can also be someone cruel and vicious, aka someone heartless.
  3. Yes, it really did say that.
  4. I saw 肥啾 in the raws and I was like, “Fat chirp?.. That makes no sense…” So I searched it up after someone had told me to, and it seems to be a nickname that Chinese internet users have given Gilbird from Hetalia. Tried finding what bird species Gilbird is and no luck, in the end, I ended up putting that. (Maybe this was a scene from Hetalia, idk.)
  5. This joke was in chapter four, hehe. Also, 熊 = bear and 猫 = cat. Together, they make panda!
  6. The joke is that the toad got his karma, lololol.
  7. Swearing, as in, pledging.
  8. 台阶下 = Down the steps, which means to give someone face and give them a way out of an embarrassing situation.
  9. 傻不愣登 describes a silly appearance.
  10. 情分 = The emotions between friends or relatives, I think.

Zenne: Wen Zhu Zhi making excuses for himself. 😂 Also, sorry for the late update. Took a nap and somehow slept for the rest of the day then rushed to translate the rest of this, lol. (Btw, my break is ending, noooo.)

IBFV Chapter 20

The general had also failed in successfully killing the enemy today

Unedited

Bai Zhi slept extremely comfortably. He woke up and stayed in Wen Zhu Zhi’s arms for a while, he had happened to meet Wen Zhu Zhi’s two open eyes.

“Awake?”

Bai Zhi nodded. In the end, he couldn’t help saying, “Did you not sleep well?”

“I slept very well,” Wen Zhu Zhi’s face was quite hard to read.

“But you have very serious dark circles under your eyes, your complexion is also very lacking1. Could it be that you had a nightmare?” Bai Zhi ruthlessly exposed him.

Wen Zhu Zhi: ……You were the nightmare.

“I’m dissatisfied with the water and soil,” Wen Zhu Zhi fabricated it with a straight face. “Also, my arm feels numb.”

Bai Zhi immediately got up and looked at him, feeling rather embarrassed.

“I’m sorry……”

“It doesn’t matter,” Wen Zhu Zhi spoke very stiffly.

Bai Zhi smiled at hearing what he said. He scratched his head, opening his mouth, “I’ll make sure to sleep in another position tonight so that you won’t feel uncomfortable.”

Wen Zhu Zhi: ……Why do I feel that those words sound strange, no, he still wants to sleep in my arms tonight?

Wen Zhu Zhi corrected his expression, immediately refusing his words in righteousness, “Your Highness, we still have to maintain a relatively good distance. We are violating the military regulations by being excessively intimate.”

“When did the military regulations have this rule……” Bai Zhi was baffled, somewhat frustrated. “Okay, then I’ll stay away from you as much as possible.”

After saying that, he glanced at Wen Zhu Zhi. He turned around and left the cave, his voice seeming a bit aggrieved, “I’ll go find you stuff to eat, you wait here for me. Pay attention to your safety.”

As soon as the words had dropped, Bai Zhi ran out. Wen Zhu Zhi, who was frozen in place, suddenly felt a bit guilty.

Had he said too much just now?

Wen Zhu Zhi replayed the dialogue from just now in his head n2 times and suddenly panicked a little.

Shao Luo had been pampered and spoiled since childhood, he definitely didn’t suffer any grievances. This time, it must have been difficult to save him. He must have used lots of effort to take the trouble of looking after him, surely, it wasn’t easy.

Wen Zhu Zhi sighed, he had even wanted to kill him last night. He had made him lose face, he must have run out just now because he could not bear it, right?

Should he be nice to him……

Wen Zhu Zhi silently thought and suddenly shook his head. No…… Shao Luo is the prince of the Empire, I should feel happy when he doesn’t feel happy. How could I care about his feelings!

He shouldn’t be confused by the enemy.

Wen Zhu Zhi nodded, reaffirming it again in his heart.

Even if the enemy was really cute, he wouldn’t.

As Wen Zhu Zhi was very conflicted in that spot, Bai Zhi was happily running around, not looking heartbroken like Wen Zhu Zhi had thought.

“Uncle! What’s that, is it delicious!”

“Those are kiwis, they’re sweet and sour. Try it!”

Bai Zhi took a bunch at hearing what it said. He threw them into his mouth and chewed a few times.

“How is it?”

“It’s okay……” Bai Zhi chewed for a while and opened his mouth, “It’s a bit tastier than the human foods from the previous worlds, it just has no spiritual energy.”

“But spiritual fruits are very hard to find, except me, you’ll never find another place to provide you with spiritual fruits!” the system snorted3, very proudly saying.

“Wow, that’s awesome,” Bai Zhi clapped. Somewhat curious, he asked, “Uncle, why do you have so many spiritual fruits?”

“This…… You shouldn’t ask. Hurry up and pick these fruits, Wen Zhu Zhi is still quite hungry.”

“I understand, I understand,” Bai Zhi gestured. He wandered back, the pockets of his clothing filled with a large bundle of kiwis.

Ai4…… I didn’t expect Wen Zhu Zhi to pay attention to military discipline that much. In the previous two worlds, he liked having physical contact with me,” Bai Zhi sighed as he walked.

“It’s all right, everyone has something they adhere to, we’ll respect him.”5

“En,” Bai Zhi nodded. “I must be very nice to him and absolutely shouldn’t throw myself at him every day!”

“Jiayou6, Nephew!”

Wen Zhu Zhi, who still didn’t know that he had screwed up: ……Huh? Why isn’t he back yet? Should I go look for him? No, I shouldn’t look for him. Wen Zhu Zhi, you’re a man, you must have integrity, hold back.

Wen Zhu Zhi closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He thought he had perfectly convinced himself when he suddenly heard the sound of footsteps.

His body shook, he immediately made a weak appearance, dispiritedly leaning against the wall.

Bai Zhi ran back and offered a large bundle of fruits. He wiped it clean on his clothes and very carefully handed it over to Wen Zhu Zhi, “Try it. If you don’t like it, I’ll find other ones for you.”

Wen Zhu Zhi pursed his lips, lifting his hands to take it, “Thank you, Your Highness.”

“Don’t mention it,” Bai Zhi seated himself on the ground, looking at him with great anticipation.

Wen Zhu Zhi took a bite of the fruit under the man’s burning gaze, “It’s very delicious.”

Bai Zhi instantly became happy, “That’s good, I’ll give you all of it.”

“Has Your Highness already filled your belly?” Wen Zhu Zhi frowned.

“I,7 have naturally already eaten,” Bai Zhi turned his head. He got up and took a few steps, “I’ll go take a look at the situation in this area, call me if you need me.”

Wen Zhu Zhi watched the man leave the cave, the half-bitten fruit in his hand slowly8 moving.

He was lying.

Having worked on the battlefield for many years, he had seen many undercover prisoners of wars. Wen Zhu Zhi had perfected discerning9 things long ago.

When Shao Luo had answered on whether he had a meal or not, his eyes drifted, he didn’t dare look at him face-to-face, and his voice was also very unstable. It was very obvious that he could not lie at all.

He had not eaten at all.

Wen Zhu Zhi looked at the fruits on the ground, pondering over Shao Luo’s reasons for hiding the truth.

Although this fruit was rare, Wen Zhu Zhi had seen it several times. The kiwi tasted relatively good, it was edible, and it wasn’t poisonous.

Shao Luo didn’t intend to use this to harm him.

Could it be that…… A possibility suddenly crossed Wen Zhu Zhi’s mind. Because there weren’t many fruits, Shao Luo wanted to set aside the entire thing for me?

Thinking of this, Wen Zhu Zhi lowered his head and carefully counted the number of fruits.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. There are only seven. Sure enough, there’s very little.

Wen Zhu Zhi suddenly felt the man poke his heart. Shao Luo was obviously a prince, but in this life or death situation, he still thought about him.

How about he puts off the discussion about his silencing till tomorrow?

Bai Zhi, who was looking all over the place to check the situation, did not know that he had extended his life by one day because of his pickiness10. He had only walked a short distance around the cave then silently crouched as he waited for the system to survey the planet well.

But he hadn’t even waited for a moment when the sharp sound of an alarm had suddenly passed into his mind.

“Signs of living Zerg have been detected! Their distance from the host is four-hundred and ten metres and their distance from the villain, Wen Zhu Zhi, is…… Damn it, it’s fifty-three metres!”

Bai Zhi turned pale with fright at hearing what it said. He did not care whether he exposed his identity as a great demon or not and immediately flew11 back, heading straight for Wen Zhu Zhi’s direction.

Wen Zhu Zhi, who was in the cave, had also sensed an unusual odour. He was no longer hung up on the fruit on the ground and slowly stood up, taking a step back. He slowly took his blade out and his weak image was swept away. Wen Zhu Zhi held his breath and stared firmly at the entrance of the cave, the light in his eyes was sharp.

The sound of footsteps very quickly came close and there seemed to be seven or eight people. Wen Zhu Zhi tightly held his military knife, waiting for the Zerg to come in and look around12. Outside, the sound of weapons clashing had rung out first.

The sound of gunshots rang out and it was earsplitting.

Wen Zhu Zhi was shocked and immediately ran out.

At the entrance of the cave, three or four Zerg soldiers had already fallen. Green blood spilt on their chests, a foul odour coming from it.

Not too far away, Bai Zhi was fighting the remaining Zerg troops. He moved nimbly to evade their long antennae and rolled over, shooting with his left hand. Two Zerg figures fell to the ground.

The remaining Zerg, who saw their comrades fall to the ground, were somewhat afraid. Bai Zhi saw another chance and shot, but it didn’t bring about any harm.

Wen Zhu Zhi was shocked to see this. Shao Luo had no bullets.

The few remaining Zerg had also realised and immediately swarmed in. Bai Zhi quickly took out his military knife, heading straight for the nearest Zerg. The sound of metals colliding entered his ears and Bai Zhi repeatedly waved his blade, not forgetting to shout at Wen Zhu Zhi, who was by the side.

“You leave first!”

Wen Zhu Zhi’s grip on his blade tightened.

If he left now, Shao Luo would most likely get caught up in the danger and he could effortlessly take his blade and dispose this prince.

He died under the siege of the Zerg and he went all out to break the siege, yet wasn’t able to save His Highness and he felt really guilty.

It was a flawless excuse.

Wen Zhu Zhi thought for a while and made up his mind.

Whilst Bai Zhi was fighting the Zerg, he was also paying attention to Wen Zhu Zhi. Seeing him finally take a step, his mind relaxed.

If Wen Zhu Zhi left, he would be all right. As soon as he leaves, relying on himself and the system, these Zerg would not be feared at all.

Bai Zhi had already thought of a good plan in his mind, but there was suddenly the unharmonious sound of weapons striking each other ringing out.

Wen Zhu Zhi held his blade with one hand, his face was fierce as he entered the battlefield and he cut straight through the Zerg with his blade.

Bai Zhi: “……???”

What13 is this situation!

Didn’t Wen Zhu Zhi have serious injuries!

The weak Wen Zhu Zhi calmly raised his blade then lowered it. And in one move, he wiped the Zerg clean.

Bai Zhi looked at the corpses in miserable conditions all over the place in front of him. He was so surprised he forgot to put his blade away.

“You, has your body recovered?”

Wen Zhu Zhi frowned at hearing what he said, “I……”

However, before he could finish speaking, he fell to the ground. Bai Zhi’s eyes swiftly saw it and his hand quickly caught him. Then he saw him pull a smile with great difficulty.

“Just exhausted…… Sorry……”

After he spoke, he passed out.

Bai Zhi, who was helping the man up: ……

He had nearly become unable to make sense of this world.

But what’s done is done, Bai Zhi was unable to speak any more. He could not stay there for long, he picked up some weapons and food from the bodies of the dead Zerg soldiers, and after, he carried Wen Zhu Zhi on his back and quickly ran off.

As he vigorously ran, he also took note of the situation of his surroundings. Bai Zhi did not dare breathe too much, only thinking that he had never been this nervous.

When he was fighting the Zerg just now, he really was somewhat afraid. But you couldn’t say that he was unable to beat them. The Zerg’s strength was a few levels higher than the humans from before. Even though Bai Zhi had lived as a demon for a very long time, he had never seen such an odd species.

They were ugly and weird, what if they injured Wen Zhu Zhi?

He had numerous misgivings in his heart. He had just found that person and had not yet finished accompanying him for the rest of his life.

No matter what, he had to be protected.

Bai Zhi gritted his teeth, tightly carrying the unconscious Wen Zhu Zhi on his back. His mind gradually had some odd thoughts.

It was always that person looking after him, coaxing and protecting him as if he were a treasure. But this time, his body had suffered serious injuries and he was in a dangerous situation.

Bai Zhi pursed his lips, taking a deep breath.

And so, this time, he would do the same as that person and protect the man on his back very well.

The author has something to say:
Zerg: Get rid of the one that’s seriously injured, first.

Wen Zhu Zhi: Hack.

Zerg: ……Get rid of the prince that looks like a delicate noble.

Bai Zhi: Chop.

Zerg: Humans are all big pig trotters14, wuwuwu.

  1. As in, lacking colour.
  2. Said ‘n遍’ in the raws. It was originally a mathematical term, it’s a variable so you can substitute it with any number. For example, you could say he replayed the dialogue in his head 50 times.
  3. Said ‘哼’ which = humph, but that’s onomatopoeia.
  4. It’s a sigh.
  5. Yesss, respect people’s boundaries!
  6. 加油 = Jiayou = Used to cheer someone on.
  7. It’s a slight pause in the sentence, I usually leave it as a comma.
  8. Says ‘迟迟’ which means that the action was done too late.
  9. 火眼金睛 = Discerning eyes.
  10. 嘴刁 = Being picky about eating.
  11. He ran so fast that it was like he was flying.

IBFV Chapter 19

Kill the prince

Unedited

Wen Zhu Zhi’s eyes were dyed with surprise. In this situation, had Shao Luo taken him and escaped?

But how did he handle the Zerg?

Wen Zhu Zhi remembered a scene from before he had lost consciousness. At that time, he was in the sealed warehouse looking for an opportunity to escape, but he suddenly heard the warehouse door opening. He instinctively considered the person that was coming as an enemy and prepared to kill them, but he saw an unexpected person.

Shao Luo.

Wen Zhu Zhi was very surprised when he found out that he and Shao Luo had been captured at the same time. But he, himself, had not cared about this at all.

He had bargaining chips1 that would keep him alive, and as for that prince, maybe he would live and maybe he would die. But what would that have to do with him?

But……the person he hardly cared about and somewhat hated, did not escape alone as his first reaction. Instead, he chose to re-enter the dangers and came back to save him, which Wen Zhu Zhi had never expected.

He thought that a pampered royal like Shao Luo had come to the battlefield only to walk through the stage2 and only to loudly shout that he would protect the imperial family when they ran into danger.

However, that guy was not like that.

Wen Zhu Zhi’s eyes slightly twitched and he opened his mouth to speak.

Bai Zhi saw his doubtful look. Afraid that he would expose the system if he wasn’t careful, he promptly opened his mouth a step ahead, explaining, “I knocked out the soldiers and ran out, then I accidentally entered a portal. Now, I don’t know where we are.”

After saying that, he laughed. He felt very embarrassed as he helped Wen Zhu Zhi up and voiced, “I was careless and bumped into you, I’m sorry.”

“I dare not,3” Wen Zhu Zhi shook his head, his tone carrying a bit of apologeticness. “Your Highness Shao Luo, I’ve burdened you4.”

“No, no,” replied Bai Zhi. “It’s good you’re all right.”

After saying that, Bai Zhi raised his head to look at the colour of the sky5 and uttered, “It’s getting dark, I don’t know if it’s dangerous here or not. Let’s go find a place to spend the night.”

Wen Zhu Zhi nodded at hearing what he said.

Bai Zhi sighed in relief, he lifted his foot and took a step towards the place the system had marked. Wen Zhu Zhi did not say any more, gritting his teeth and slowly following him.

The two people did not speak for the entire journey. Only when they had arrived at the location they’d aimed for did the atmosphere get broken.

Bai Zhi pretended to accidentally find the entrance of a cave, then Wen Zhu Zhi entered first.

“We’ll stay here for today, okay? We’ll have thought of something again by the time it’s daylight.”

Wen Zhu Zhi’s body had originally received serious injuries, and although he had the system’s panacea6, he was still unable to take on his physical issues. He agreed to him finding a place for him to close his eyes and rest up.7

Bai Zhi sat beside him for a while. He took out a night vision device8 and placed it on the floor. The small sphere immediately issued saffron lighting, illuminating the entire cave entrance.

The warm light drove the coldness and darkness away. Bai Zhi sighed, suddenly recalling the him from before.

Bai Zhi was a demon, he was a very peculiar demon. He was not the fruit of a demon father and demon mother’s love, nor was he the inspirational type that had tried hard in cultivating and ended up accomplishing something. He had mysteriously appeared in this world as if he had popped out from a stone.

He was born with a human’s consciousness and he had spiritual intelligence before he had taken a form. He quietly laid on the stone, his eyes wide open as he looked at how the other organisms had lived. Then, he imitated their ways of living.

When he saw nestlings in a nest crying out to have their bellies filled, he climbed up and cried out, imitating the young birds. However, he ended up being miserably pecked all the way down. 9

That’s what his life was like before. Every day, Bai Zhi could not fill his stomach till he was full. And thus, he had learned to sleep. When he was hungry, he slept. That was until he had met the system.

This time, he was truly hungry and could not stand it anymore.

Bai Zhi thought about this and rubbed his head, sighing.

He could only hope that this mission would successfully be completed and that he could still fill his belly till it was full. Then, he would go find that person and continue to stay with him.

Thinking of this, Bai Zhi suddenly became happy. He simply sat cross-legged, thinking of memories of that person, bit by bit.

In the first world, he was called Fang Jingmo, who was a particularly handsome, particularly gentle, and particularly likeable man. In the second world, he was called Du Huai’an, who was a particularly handsome, particularly romantic, and particularly likeable man.

Although they were both villains, Bai Zhi did not care about their identities at all.

Bai Zhi thought about it, his head suddenly lit up10 and he immediately sat up straight.

Wait a minute, Fang Jingmo was a villain in the first world and Du Huai’an was a villain in the second world. Is this coincidental or is that person’s identity fixed, for example, always being a villain?

Thinking that he had seen through the pattern, Bai Zhi suddenly sprang up. He turned his head to gaze at the man with tightly closed eyes. Wen Zhu Zhi leaned on the wall of the cave frowning, his hair messy.

Bai Zhi thought about it and took off his jacket, walking over to him. He first draped the coat over the man and moved closer to him, looking at him for a long time. He lifted his hands and tidied up Wen Zhu Zhi’s dishevelled hair. Moments later, he ended up unable to hold back. Both of his hands pressed on Wen Zhu Zhi’s collar, he crouched down and leaned his body forwards. He slowly moved his face closer to Wen Zhu Zhi’s neck, closing his eyes to sniff him for a while. Then, he unhurriedly released his hands, his eyes flowing with brightness.

“Uncle, Uncle!”

“What is it!”11

“I found him.”

Sensing the abnormally familiar soul scent, Bai Zhi was so excited that he teared up12, wishing he could hug Wen Zhu Zhi and kiss him a few times. However, he was wisely stopped by the system.

“Have you forgotten that he doesn’t have his memories? What’s the point in pouncing on him right now?”

Only then did Bai Zhi come back to his senses. “Oh yeah, he doesn’t remember me.”

Thinking of this, Bai Zhi got depressed, “I had forgotten in the excitement.”

But luckily, he was naturally optimistic. Soon after, he was happy again. “It doesn’t matter, I’ll just think of it as getting to know him again. Besides, I have the time and patience.”

The system stroked his head, “It’s good that you think like this. Rest first, I’ll call for you if there’s any danger.”

“Okay! You’ve worked hard! Good night, Uncle!”

Bai Zhi moved back to Wen Zhu Zhi’s side, lightly saying ‘good night’. After he said that, he then leaned against the man and shut his eyes.

The night was quiet, you were not able to hear even a single sound. The night vision device’s light dispelled the darkness and the originally closed eyes of the man slowly opened.

Wen Zhu Zhi’s eyes were clear and bright without a trace of tiredness. He glanced at Bai Zhi, who was leaning against him, his eyes slightly twitching.

He was cautious and careful by nature and he had been in the army for many years. When Bai Zhi was heading for him just now, Wen Zhu Zhi had immediately woken up, he simply did not open his eyes. What went on after was completely unexpected.

Wen Zhu Zhi lowered his head and looked at the clothing draped over his body. His eyes turned to the man snuggling up to him by the side.

The man’s figure was slim, his cheeks seeming somewhat thin because of recent matters. His lips had no colour, his two eyes tightly closed.

Wen Zhu Zhi looked at him for a while, then turned his line of sight. His eyes were dark and obscure.

The touch he had just felt had remained on his heart. If Shao Luo had only draped his coat over him, one could say it’s comradeship, which was barely plausible. But, why did he have to be like that and come closer to him?

And it was not only that…… Wen Zhu Zhi could clearly feel Shao Luo pulling his collar, slowly pressing closer to his body. He greedily sniffed his scent, furthermore, he seemed to be very infatuated with it. It was as if he had seen some sort of rare treasure.13

Wen Zhu Zhi frowned, the thoughts in his mind flying. Although homosexuality had already been legal in the Empire for many years and people had already been used to it at an earlier time, this sort of thing would not exist between him and Shao Luo, right?

What kind of person is Shao Luo?

Although he was only his lieutenant in the army, in the Empire where the royal family had firmly seized political power, he still had another strongly dazzling identity.

He was the first son14 of the royal family. He had an honourable status, was loved by myriads since young, and everyone worshipped him.

How could he have such feelings for him?

Wen Zhu Zhi’s fingertips twitched.

He hated the humans of the Empire, especially the members of the royal family.

Thinking of this, Wen Zhu Zhi’s aura had suddenly become severely fierce.

He carefully pondered over his current situation. The prince of the Empire slept with his head resting on him without any vigilance and he was completely certain that he could finish off15 this new royal recruit16.

Furthermore, this place was remote and uninhabited, it’s an excellent opportunity to do it17. If he finished him off here, once he returned to the Empire, Wen Zhu Zhi would still be able to find ways to push the pot18 onto the Zerg. If things went well, he would not have any losses and he would make the Empire lose an excellent royal soldier19

Thinking of this20, Wen Zhu Zhi slowly extended his hand, pressing on Bai Zhi’s neck.

So long as he uses some strength, this royal prince would quietly disappear, no longer appearing in this world.

Wen Zhu Zhi’s eyes twitched. Moments later, he had finally decided. He held his breath as he prepared to do it. However, the man he was pressing had suddenly moved.

Bai Zhi was deep into his sleep, it’s just, he felt uncomfortable in this position. He instinctively moved his body to the man by his side and rubbed against his arms.

After some twisting, he finally found a comfortable position. Bai Zhi breathed through his nose, sniffing a familiar smell. He smacked his lips in satisfaction, simply extending his hands to tightly embrace the man’s waist. Then, he crawled up like a koala, continuing to sleep.

Wen Zhu Zhi, who was startled by the series of movements, was frozen for a while. Then he looked at the man in his arms, somewhat at a loss. The two people’s breaths intertwined. Wen Zhu Zhi could feel the young man’s temperature on his skin through the clothing.

He’s soft and very warm, the hug is also rather comfortable. Wen Zhu Zhi suddenly thought.

However, such thoughts only existed for a few seconds. Wen Zhu Zhi then immediately shook his head, composing himself to drive it out of his head.

No, he could not be softhearted!

The enemy has already exposed his weak point! This is a great opportunity, how could he miss it!

Wen Zhu Zhi took a deep breath and lifted his arm, preparing to strike again. Suddenly, he heard the man in his arms groan in his sleep. The man seemed to have dreamt about something bad and he slightly frowned.

Wen Zhu Zhi froze, the hand that had originally intended to take his life, moved positions as if the demons and gods were at work.21 He lightly patted the young man on the back with gentle force, as if he were coaxing the man.

And it really did have a coaxing effect on the man. Bai Zhi’s eyebrows had smoothed out and he no longer did a rubbing motion against Wen Zhu Zhi.

Wen Zhu Zhi did not dare move again, afraid he would startle the man sleeping in his arms. He did not withdraw his hand and just rested it on Bai Zhi’s back, slightly hugging the man.

Most of the night had passed like that. Once there were rays of light digging into the cave, Wen Zhu Zhi had suddenly recalled something he had forgotten.

No, wasn’t he going to kill the prince!

The author has something to say:

Wen Zhu Zhi: Tomorrow, tomorrow I must kill the prince!

IBFV Chapter 18

A rebelling general and the prince of the Empire.

Unedited

“Du Huai’an, or rather, Fang Jingmo. Uncle, is what I said right?”

The system was silent for a moment, “……How did you find out?”

“How could there be two people who are so alike?” Bai Zhi voiced. “Even the smell of their souls are exactly the same.”1

System: “I……”

“It’s fine, Uncle. I trust that you won’t hurt me,” Bai Zhi smiled. “I won’t ask why you’re hiding this matter, I’ll ask you another question.”

“What question?”

Bai Zhi paused for a moment, opening his mouth, “Does he remember me in every world?”

“He doesn’t remember,” the system simply uttered. “You can interpret them as reincarnations.”

“Is that so?” Bai Zhi pursed his lips, smiling. For the last time, he looked at Du Huai’an who lay dormant.2 His tone had softened a bit, “Then let’s go, head to the next world.”

“Okay.”

The system materialised its form, opened its galvanized iron belly, stuffed Bai Zhi into it, then immediately disappeared from the spot.

When Bai Zhi had opened his eyes, he felt severe pain in his abdomen. He took a deep breath and had barely opened his eyes3 when he saw a man kicking him. He instinctively prepared to fight back, but Bai Zhi suddenly recalled his task.

He still hadn’t learnt about this world, he should not act rashly.

Bai Zhi immediately clenched his teeth. He stiffly received the attack from below and immediately rolled back from the kick.

The sound of sneering promptly came from ahead. Bai Zhi lifted his head and realised that the man previously attacking him was not human.

Although the thing had a human body shape, it had a long horn on its head, its face was covered with scales, and it seemed very terrifying.

Bai Zhi lowered his eyes in surprise and the voice of the system came through in his mind.

“The host is in danger, forcibly starting Protection Mode. Di4, Protection Mode has started. Forcibly transferring the plot——”

Bai Zhi inhaled through his nose. After the voice had spoken, he no longer felt that intense pain. It was substituted by a large number of words that drilled into his mind, passing over his eyes one by one.

This world was different from the previous world. AD 5000, science and technology is highly developed and the Earth’s natural resources have nearly been exhausted. A colossus had emerged in the galaxy, the Empire. And thus, a war for natural resources had begun. The Aliens that had evolved under extreme environments and the Zerg that had a lower amount of combat power yet could not be underestimated. After centuries of wars over resources, the human race used their absolute advantage of outnumbering them and having relatively advanced science and technology to temporarily suppress the Aliens and Zerg. The three parties signed a peace treaty, announcing a truce.5

However, resource plundering still existed. The so-called ‘truce’ was nothing more than some pretty words on the surface. Bai Zhi licked the bloodstains on the side of his mouth, gloomily sighing. Wasn’t he involved in the conflict between the Zerg and Empire now?

This time, the identity of the one Bai Zhi had transmigrated into was not ordinary. He had transmigrated into a member of the imperial family, the young prince, Shao Luo. However, this character was written very little about in the original work. The reason for this was very simple. Not only is Shao Luo a prince, but he is also a member of the Imperial Army, the lieutenant of the Imperial General, Wen Zhu Zhi. To show the incompatibility between the Empire and the Zerg, the author begins describing a battle in which Shao Luo and Wen Zhu Zhi’s fleet had faced a sneak attack on the journey back. Shao Luo had died and Wen Zhu Zhi had serious injuries and was captured.

But now, he was not dead. Instead, his hands and feet were tied up. Bai Zhi pondered over it for a while, feeling that it was probably thanks to the system.

Although nothing was threatening his life now, his situation was still just as bad. According to the surroundings he sees, Shao Luo was most likely caught. Bai Zhi blinked and lay on the ground with his eyes closed, resting. The monster that was kicking him just now had already left, but their appearance had left a deep impression on Bai Zhi.

“The monsters here are even uglier than demons,” Bai Zhi had rested enough and slowly got up. “What did they grow up eating?”

“The Zerg eat ore, occasionally eating the Imperial people6.”

“The Imperial people7?”

“Those that are just like you,” the system uttered.

Bai Zhi shook at hearing what it said, “Oh no8, then won’t we be in danger here?”

“Yeah. By the way, just a friendly reminder, your9 big brother is also in danger.”

Bai Zhi: “Big brother?”

“Wen Zhu Zhi, he was also caught.”

Bai Zhi’s eyes brightened at what it said.

According to the synopsis, this world’s male lead is the imperial commander, the female lead is the princess, and the villain is the Imperial General, Wen Zhu Zhi. This time, there was no ‘because of love, hatred is born10’ story. Wen Zhu Zhi was able to become a villain because he was simply not an upright soldier.

This general led a rebelling army at a later stage, and after carrying out a life-and-death struggle with the male and female lead, who guarded the Empire, he ended up being defeated by the protagonist’s halo.

As for why he wanted to rebel and when he had begun to arrange it, it was not mentioned in the original work. Bai Zhi also had no way of knowing right now.

“Let’s go save Wen Zhu Zhi first and see if that person is here or not whilst we’re at it.”

“Which person?”

Bai Zhi stood up, clenched his teeth and issued a force. Stiffly tearing off the chains that confined him, he exhaled, “Du Huai’an. Huh? That Zerg’s chains are surprisingly firm. It’s the first time I’ve had to use so much force to tear chains.”

“The Zerg aren’t like ordinary humans. Even if you’re a great demon, you still need to be more careful,” the system warned.

“En,” Bai Zhi nodded. “I understand.”

Using the system’s navigation map and signal blocker, Bai Zhi, who was more scared than hurt11, escaped the jail cell. His objective was to head straight for Wen Zhu Zhi’s direction.

“There is a patrol unit ahead with ten people. It is estimated they will pass by this area in one minute and twenty-four seconds, a head-on confrontation is not recommended.”

The words of the system’s notice sounded out in his head. Bai Zhi’s steps paused, he immediately changed directions and climbed over the wall.

“Wen Zhu Zhi is in a sealed off warehouse located in the Southwest. Two people are guarding it, you can break through it by using force.”

A smile showed on Bai Zhi’s face, “Finally, we can get started.” After saying that, he hid his body and quietly went over to search. And as quickly as lightning, he successfully snuck in.

The system was very helpful and cracked the password to the sealed off warehouse with great speed. The warehouse door slowly opened and Bai Zhi was about to go in when he suddenly felt that the sound of air being cut had come from behind his body. He quickly turned around and prepared to fight back, but he unexpectedly saw a face he was familiar with.

“Gen, General?”

Wen Zhu Zhi was also a bit surprised. He reacted very quickly and put his weapon away, his pale face somewhat apologetic.

“Sorry12, I……”

Wen Zhu Zhi still had not finished speaking when he suddenly lost his voice and fell forwards. Bai Zhi was startled and went over, hurriedly helping the man up. When he saw his tightly closed eyes and motionlessness, his heart was a complete mess.

“Uncle, Uncle, what happened to him!”

The system inspected him for a while then spoke, “Don’t worry, he fainted. Wen Zhu Zhi had serious injuries before, he mistook you for an enemy and was about to do a sneak attack on you just now. He was physically exhausted and then collapsed.”

“His life isn’t in danger, right?” Bai Zhi was still a little uneasy from hearing what it said.

“For now, it isn’t. Anyway, you must escape right away.”

“I got it,” Bai Zhi sighed. He searched for weapons from two Zerg soldiers he had knocked out and carefully carried Wen Zhu Zhi on his back, deeply sighing. Soon after, he heard a deafening alarm.

“What is that?”

“The Zerg’s alarm. I just looked and it seems like they’ve discovered that you’ve come here.”

Bai Zhi: “……???”

He went through various challenges. He hid to the left and ran to the West. Bai Zhi found the time to look at the map, and seeing the enemy troops surrounding him more and more, his heart became colder and colder.

“Uncle, I think I might get caught.”

“Don’t panic, Nephew. You still have Uncle!”

Bai Zhi blinked, “What can you do?”

“I can be very awesome, huohuo13!” Just as its voice fell, the system’s figure suddenly appeared. It opened its belly with a ‘bang’, shouting, “Quickly, quickly, quickly, jump in!”

Bai Zhi was dumbfounded as he jumped in, he also brought Wen Zhu Zhi in whilst he was at it. The soldiers chasing after him immediately threw themselves at him. The system swiftly pulled its belly close with its hand and disappeared with a ‘woosh’.

Bai Zhi, who had met with the system’s coolness for the first time, “……Wuwuwu, Uncle, you’re amazing!”

“Of course I am!”

Bai Zhi was moved to tears and was about to praise his family’s Machine Uncle when he suddenly heard the sound of electricity.

Bai Zhi: “……?”

System: “……Cough cough.”

Before he could react, Bai Zhi suddenly felt a strong force. He was then sent out of the system’s galvanized iron belly, and somersaulted in the air a few times then sat on the floor with a dumbfounded face.

The little demon with a dumbfounded face: “What happened?”

System: “I have good news and bad news.”

“The bad news.”

“The good news is that we’ve succeeded in escaping the pursuit and attacks of the Zerg14.”

“The bad news.”

“The bad news is that I don’t know where we’ve landed.”

Bai Zhi patted his clothes and stood up, looking at Wen Zhu Zhi, who was to the side with second degree injuries, a little worried, “You just tossed him like that?”

“It doesn’t matter,” the system pretended to be calm. “At worst, he’ll be out for a few more days.”

Bai Zhi: “???”

“Then, then, then, should I make an exception and give him a spiritual pill?” the system was also a bit worried.

“Let’s just give it,” Bai Zhi scratched his head.

The system very carefully spit out a spiritual pill, a little distressed, “I only have one bottle, use it carefully……”

“Okay, drop15,” Bai Zhi took it. He pried Wen Zhu Zhi’s mouth open, shoving the spiritual pill in.

After finishing that, the system and Bai Zhi simply sat down. A demon and a machine propped up their cheek, motionlessly gazing at a certain general with closed eyes.

Under the scorching gazes, or with the said spiritual pills that played a key role, Wen Zhu Zhi’s eyelashes slightly trembled. The system’s figure instantly disappeared and the general slowly opened his eyes.

Sunshine, the sky, had he escaped?

“Wen Zhu Zhi! You’re awake!”

A voice rang out from his surroundings, the words overflowing16 with happy emotions. Wen Zhu Zhi slightly turned his head to the side, seeing a pair of bright eyes.

Shao Luo?

  1. In chapter 8 (the last chapter of the first arc), Bai Zhi did say he would forever remember the smell of FJM’s soul… So yeah, I guess that was some foreshadowing.
  2. Implying he’s dead.
  3. Guessing that he opened his eyes but closed them cuz of the pain, and then, he re-opened them.
  4. Just an SFX that’s like ‘ding’.
  5. Hopefully, this info is understandable. (Looks all over the place to me lmao.)
  6. Says ‘开荤’, meaning that they are eating meat after having maintained a vegetarian diet.
  7. Says ‘帝国人类’. 帝国 = empire/imperial and 人类 = humanity/human/etc.
  8. Can also be darn, gosh, crap, etc. I wanted to put ‘shit’, but that’s not really in line with Bai Zhi’s character.
  9. Formal ‘you’.
  10. Basically, when you love someone and they leave you, you hate them for that… It’s really just the person blackening, though lololol.
  11. 有惊无险 = to get through a daunting experience without mishap.
  12. This type of sorry is more of a polite one.
  13. It’s like a prideful laughter.
  14. The system really just ignored him like that, huh. 💀 (The author could’ve been trying to put ‘好/hao’ instead of ‘坏/huai’, though.)
  15. The sound of him putting the pill in.
  16. 溢于言表 is basically when there’s so much emotion in one’s speech, you’re displaying how you feel.

Zenne: Woo! Interstellar arc! Any ranks (like ‘general’, ‘commander’, etc) mentioned so far might be changed later…

Also, I always put that Bai Zhi is a demon because the author uses ‘妖’ frequently, but the author sometimes uses ‘妖怪’ instead. The term is usually used in Chinese mythology and folklore.

妖怪 = Yaoguai (In Japanese, it’s known as ‘yokai’ which you might’ve heard of before.) Any previous mentions of Bai Zhi having non-human characteristics should make sense now…

Basically, Bai Zhi can be referred to as a ‘monster’, but not the type of ‘monster’ you’re thinking of…

IBFV Chapter 17.2

He’s waiting for me

Unedited

They’re all so happy, Bai Zhi thought distractedly. His right hand, however, was suddenly tugged on by someone.

He turned his head. Du Huai’an looked at him and mouthed, gesturing to Bai Zhi for him to leave with him.

The two people quietly disappeared from the wedding. Du Huai’an pulled Bai Zhi and ran out of the church, running through the long streets, turning into long corridors, finally stopping in front of a very small building.

Before Bai Zhi could understand what he was going to do, his eyes were suddenly covered. He was brought forwards, it was only till a few minutes after that both hands were put down.

Bai Zhi opened his eyes and instantly froze.

The room was filled with pictures of Pleasant Goat, a long table ran exactly through the room, various meats and dishes spread over it. Bai Zhi slowly went over and saw a small snowman toy standing at the end of the table.

Its chubby body and small, round eyes were exactly the same as the ones Bai Zhi had molded at that time.

It’s so ugly. Bai Zhi wanted to laugh a little, but the laugh did not come out.

Du Huai’an slowly walked up to him, slowly kneeling down on one knee under the gazes of people.

“I’ll do it!” Bai Zhi looked at his big brother kneeling down for him. He was so scared that his IQ instantly went offline, he quickly kneeled on his two legs. He put both of his palms together and trembled as he said, “Big brother, you1, don’t kneel for me. I-I-I’m scared.”

After saying that to Du Huai’an, he prayed.

Du Huai’an who was about to say that they would both try it2: ……

“Get up,” Du Huai’an spoke.

“I won’t,” Bai Zhi simply threw himself onto the floor. “I won’t!”

Du Huai’an was fed up and got up, lifting the man up.

“What are you doing!”

Bai Zhi’s eyes were fixed onto him, “Stay down.”

“No,” Du Huai’an sighed. “I, I want to stay with you.”

“You can’t!” Bai Zhi promptly spoke. “You only need to be yourself. You can start a happy, smooth life and make sure you don’t consider me.”

“How could I not consider……” Du Huai’an’s words suddenly got smaller. The light in his eyes changed, he suddenly pressed3 Bai Zhi.

“I understand.”

“What do you understand?”

“You think that I’m with you because I want to repay you and not because I like you,” Du Huai’an continued to speak. “You don’t want to keep a hold on me by using kindness and force me, right?”

The atmosphere immediately sank into silence.

Bai Zhi thought about it and put up a deathbed struggle,“Yes. That’s right. That’s right, I don’t want to tie you down. I only want to be your right hand man. Du Huai’an, go fly free.”

His voice whimpered, “Don’t care about me, wuwuwuwu4.”

“Why are you so foolish,” Du Huai’an’s eyes were even more tender. Bai Zhi stiffened, his whole body producing cold sweat from the expression in his eyes.

“I like you, it’s only natural that I consider you.”

Bai Zhi: “……Uncle.”

The system interrupted, “Don’t panic, it’s a small situation. You just need to wash yourself white5.”

“Then carry out a beautiful interaction with the villain?” Bai Zhi’s face was somewhat complicated. “Uncle, why do I feel that I haven’t come to be a little brother but come to be the villain’s boyfriend.”

“Didn’t you do all of this by yourself!” the system spoke. “You made him like you again.”

“I was following your instructions,” Bai Zhi was about to explain when he suddenly stopped. “Hold on, what do you mean ‘again’?”

The system suddenly covered its mouth, insisting on not speaking.

Bai Zhi froze on the spot for a long time, only when the man carried him to his seat to sit down did he react.

He foolishly looked at Du Huai’an, but he saw him go on one knee again. The ring box in his hand immediately opened. Du Huai’an looked straight into Bai Zhi’s eyes, each and every word coming out from the bottom of his heart.

“Jiang Jiu, I genuinely like you.”

Du Huai’an slowly spoke, “And it has nothing to do with repaying you, nor any other purpose.”

“I might not be able to have you receive more blessings than Ke Yun, but——”

Du Huai’an spoke, “I wish to give you my entire body and mind, my entire heart, and all of my tender sentiments. I’ll give all of my life to you, and for all of the years to come, each and every second of it will be a bride price. Jiang Jiu, will you accept?”

The room was silent a few seconds later.

Bai Zhi: “……What?”6

The system who was happily peeking at the screen: “……”

Bai Zhi was somewhat uncalm, “Uncle, I……”

“Those words are nothing to hesitate about,” the system was speechless. “If you like him, accept it. If you don’t like him, drop it. Do you like him or not?”

Bai Zhi thought about it and nodded.

“Like.”

System: “Ah?”

Bai Zhi: “I like him.”

System: “Speak up, who do you like?”

“I like Du Huai’an.”

“Go tell him.”

Bai Zhi suddenly stood up, taking the ring in Du Huai’an’s hand. He immediately put it on his ring finger. When he finished, he poked Du Huai’an’s head, very loudly and clearly speaking.

“I like you, so I promise you.”

Du Huai’an instantly became excited and Bai Zhi was off in another world when he7, who had his heart full of him, embraced him.

“I’m honoured.”

When they returned later, the first thing Bai Zhi did was tell Father Jiang and Mother Jiang that they were together. The mother and father were surprised and spurted tea in Bai Zhi’s face.

“Weren’t you guys already together?”

Bai Zhi very calmly wiped his face dry, baffled, “No.”

Jiang Feng was silent for a long time then sighed, “All right, we do only have you as our son.”

After a while, he spoke again, “Do you guys plan on having children?”

Bai Zhi had not thought of this issue at all, but after looking at Jiang Feng’s expression, his heart was moved. He scratched his head, “We’ll just adopt one.”

When Du Huai’an heard about the matter, he immediately took care of it. In Jiang Jiu’s twenty-ninth year, the world of two became a family of three.

Jiang Xiao Du8 was very introverted when she came back, speaking very little. Bai Zhi pulled her to eat, drink, and watch anime every day. He had finally removed his daughter’s fears and she smiled more. As the only girl in the family, Jiang Xiao Du added a very different atmosphere to the family. The two people’s elderly parents also particularly liked her, especially Jiang Feng who practically pampered Jiang Xiao Du into a little princess.

The household had a satisfactory end. Jiang Xiao Du got married and started her career, then Du Huai’an passed away from illness. Bai Zhi joined him and shut his eyes, slightly smiling as he spoke to the system.

“Uncle, let’s go.”

“Now? You’re not gonna say bye to Xiao Du?”

“No,” Bai Zhi spoke. “There’s still someone waiting for me.”

“Who?”

The author has something to say:
Congratulations to Bai Zhi for gaining the title of ‘Young Atmosphere Destroyer Expert’ hhhh

  1. Formal ver of ‘you’.
  2. Like, they would both try proposing to one another.
  3. Like, he held his shoulders with his hands.
  4. The sound of crying.
  5. Washing yourself white means to get rid of your bad reputation.
  6. He says this in a dialect.
  7. It’s Du Huai’an who has his heart full of him and is embracing him.
  8. The same Jiang in Jiang Jiu and the same Du in Du Huai’an.

Zenne: Ahhhh, it’s the end of this arc! The endings of these arcs are so short, I wish there was more to it. Welp, not much we can do about it, though.

By the way, I’ll be uploading 2 (and maybe 3) chapters a week now since I’m on school break! My school break lasts for about 2 weeks but, I’m thinking of having this schedule permanently. (And obviously, I’ll go back to updating one chap each week when I get busy.)

IBFV Chapter 17.1

He’s waiting for me.

Unedited

He hurriedly left after saying that, leaving the assistant in place.

Du Huai’an got off the elevator, his footsteps breezy. He thought about whether he should buy gifts for Jiang Jiu during the journey back tonight or not when a familiar back appeared before his eyes. Du Huai’an’s footsteps paused.

Bai Zhi was crouching on the flight of steps outside of the door, a grey parrot standing on his shoulder. Together, they blankly gazed at the street across in boredom.

He coughed and the man and bird turned around at the same time, looking at him with their two beady eyes.

Du Huai’an suddenly laughed out loud and waited till Bai Zhi stood up and swatted his butt before he restrained a bit of his smile. He walked over, holding Bai Zhi.

“Did you wait for me to go home?”

Bai Zhi nodded.

Du Huai’an had felt that all of the day’s fatigue had disappeared without a trace in an instant. He rubbed Bai Zhi’s head, leading the man back. “Why didn’t you go in? Why did you wait1 outside?”

“I was afraid I would bother you and there are people inside,” Bai Zhi obediently replied. “The sun is outside, I’m comfortable basking in the sun.”

“DouDou was also very comfortable,” after saying that, he also pointed to the grey parrot to the side.

The parrot flapped its wings as a response to those words.

Warmth was in Du Huai’an’s eyes. He held Bai Zhi’s hand even tighter, asking for his thoughts as he walked.

“I’ve been quite busy recently, can you wait for me for a bit of time?”

Bai Zhi nodded, “It’s not a problem, I’ll wait for as long as you want!”

He was originally the good2 villain’s little brother. Now, the villain was so far away from his miserable ending and also has his own career, how could Bai Zhi not support him?

“Can I send money to you? I have quite a lot of pocket money.”

Bai Zhi pulled the corner of his jacket and Du Huai’an helplessly smiled, “All right, then from now on, you’ll be my biggest financial backer and first in line at all times, okay?”

Bai Zhi lowered his head and foolishly laughed.

“Du Huai’an.”

“Yeah?”

“You really are nice,” Bai Zhi thought for a while, very seriously speaking.

Du Huai’an didn’t speak at hearing what he said, his footsteps, however, got lighter and lighter. Bai Zhi moved over, wanting to see his reaction. However, he was flicked on the forehead by a large hand.3

Du Huai’an’s voice then came through, “I got it, I like you too.”

“Ah?” Bai Zhi felt his forehead with his hand, saying, “I said that you really are nice just now, not that I like you. Why did you say ‘too’?”

“Okay,” Du Huai’an immediately answered. “Then I’ll rephrase it. I like you.”

“I, I……” Bai Zhi’s words were stuck, unable to finish saying the sentence for a long time.

Du Huai’an, however, shifted the subject, “What do you want to eat when we get home?”

“Meat!” Bai Zhi answered very quickly.

“All right, as you wish,” Du Huai’an nodded. “What about tomorrow?”

“Meat!”

“And the day after tomorrow?”

“Meat!”

“How about I cook meat every day in the future for you?”

“Okay, okay, okay!”

Du Huai’an’s eyes slightly stirred, he very naturally went on to ask, “How about I cook it for you for the rest of your life? Just us two.”

Bai Zhi habitually nodded, “Okay!”

Du Huai’an laughed out loud, his steps accelerating, his voice lightly floating into Bai Zhi’s ear.

“Then it’s a deal, it’s for a lifetime. No one is allowed to back out.”

  ……

The trajectory of this world had already completely deviated from its previous plot. Without the villain, Du Huai’an’s4, various obstructions, the male and female lead did not go through a dogblood plot of ‘I love you but misunderstand you, et cetera’, rather, it changed into a very odd path. Bai Zhi heard information from time to time, it said that the Ke family’s eldest daughter was robbing money from perverted thieves, et cetera, et cetera, beating them until they cried.

Bai Zhi: ……It’s none of my business, I didn’t do it on purpose at the time.5

But, even then, the male and female lead still got together. When they received the invitation card, Ke Yun had white, gauze clothing, her long hair reaching her shoulders, stunning everyone in the hall. Bai Zhi stood in the corner, watching her get met with blessings as she headed for her beloved, undisguised excitement and happiness on her face. Pink petals were sprinkled over the hall, the sound of violins fluttering all around.

  1. Can be ‘wait’ and ‘stay. Just decided on ‘wait’, though.
  2. Pretty sure it’s more like they’re trying to say DHA’s good at being a villain, yk?
  3. It actually says there are two hands but, I found it weird when I imagined him getting flicked on the forehead by two hands.
  4. Wasn’t sure how to put this… Idk if I should get rid of the comma or not.
  5. Referring to that chapter of him arguing with the FL.

Zenne: Ahhh, the ML and FL of the world still got together, lmao. I thought the FL would’ve gone with someone else. Also, I didn’t plan on splitting the chapter but my teachers just had to assign a shit load of homework since it’s nearly Easter break, huh. 😭  The next part will come tomorrow, though!
